Political Special Olympics...

Last night, Speaker Boehner and the House of Representatives passed a debt ceiling bill which was immediately shelved by the Senate. The Democrat controlled Senate then set out to put forward their own bill; Harry Reid stated that the House bill was written to satisfy "extremist" Tea Party members, that is why it was DOA, President Obama stated, I'm paraphrasing here, "Now that the political exercises are over, we can get to work.". If the Democrats are so gung-ho to get something done, why couldn't a few of them have crossed the aisle to support Boehner's original bill? The reason the Boehner bill was rewritten to appeal to the Tea Party types was due to the fact that the Dems in the House sat on their asses and lent no support whatsoever. Who's having the political exercises? Who's the party of no? Who's playing games with this very serious issue? The simple fact is, the Democrats have done nothing but stand on their soapboxes and fear-mongered throughout this entire debate. The Republican House has put forward THREE bills to address this issue, Democrats in the Senate have done nothing but deride these plans. Harry Reid has put forth a draft of a plan, but Moody's and S&P have made it clear that this plan will not keep the United States credit rating from being downgraded. It's time for people to wake up; the liberals on Capitol Hill and President Obama own this disaster, if it comes to fruition, let's make sure they pay for it next November and start getting ourselves dug out of this hole Obama and his minions have put us in.

Somebody Didn't Get the Memo...

Here's the article.

Newsflash, Congressman Moran, this is getting to be old hat. However, rest assured that this rhetoric is succeeding in marginalizing the Democratic party, so feel free to keep spouting your hate. I would be remiss, however, if I failed to at least try to educate you and the rest of the remaining partisan hacks who love to wallow in this kind of intellectual pornography.

Some facts:
Let's start in 2008, Barack Obama was elected president by a small majority (though some seem to think that 52.9% is a landslide) of Americans to be the President of the United States.
Shortly before the 2008 election, Gallup published a poll that showed 85% of respondents indicated that Barack Obama's race made no difference in their opinion of him, indeed, the poll found that Mr. Obama's race was slightly a net positive, only 6% of respondents had a negative opinion of his race while 9% responded favorably to his race. Read this article.
According to Rasmussen, President Obama's approval rating remained at 50% or above until August of 2009; from that point through December of 2010, it never dipped below 46%. Here's the link.
A January, 2011 poll by Quinnipiac University stated the following: “There has been "significant progress" toward Dr. King's dream of racial equality, voters say 78 - 17 percent, including 71 - 26 percent among black voters. Race relations in the U.S. are "generally good," voters say 64 - 27 percent, including 58 - 30 percent among black voters. “ (emphasis mine). Here's the link.

So Congressman Moran and his supporters must believe one or more of the following:

  • A significant portion of those polled in 2008 were either lying or magically became racists between that time and November of 2010.
  • Millions of voters must have decided that they, in fact, were wrong when they voted for a black man in 2008 or maybe they were just drunk when they went to the polls.
  • Everyone who disapproves of the President's job performance is a racist.
  • 27% constitutes a majority.
  • The Southern Poverty Law Center, who is the most likely culprit in the “over 1,000 hate groups” comment, is a reliable and objective source.
  • And, of course, Republicans and Conservatives pander to those who hate.

How about if we reset here and look at the November elections for what they really were. The American people making a statement, namely:

  • Crushing debt, government invasion of private lives and expansion of the Nanny state are unacceptable and must stop.
  • Over burdensome regulatory policies that stifle business, and therefore, job creation is not a recipe for growth.
  • The United States cannot make the world a safer place by putting itself in a position of weakness.
  • We will not tolerate individuals who are represented by Republicans being disenfranchised by being told that they are to “get in the back seat” and they have no place having their voices heard.

In conclusion, Americans are just fine being governed by a black man; however, we are highly uncomfortable being governed by an individual who hold us and our values in contempt...no matter what race they might be.

I'm baaaaaaaacccccccckkkkkkkk...

So, I was watching the "State of Denial", er, the "State of the Union" address the other night and I decided that I needed to fire up the old word processor and start sharing my insight with the world again.  This country is heading for a cliff and our illustrious President thinks we should hit the cruise control button instead of the brakes.  It's a little bit late for me to be giving the opposition statement for the State of the Union, but, I promise that I will have plenty to say over the coming weeks and months.  Feel free to post comments, positive or negative, on anything I have to say; if you agree with me, let your voice join the chorus, if not...bring it on.

Oh, God....

$1.75 trillion dollar deficit in fiscal year 2009? Good Lord! Did someone save the receipt on this guy? How do we make a return?

feedthepig.org is now feedthepig.gov

No crafted post tonight. This whole stimulus thing is absolutely ridiculous. The Senate keeps larding on more and more pork. It's over, folks. We are being sold right out the door. When this abomination passes, it will mark the end of any pretense that our elected officials give a rat's a** about this country. On a positive note, if President Obama's keeps nominating tax cheats to cabinet posts he may be able to cover the cost of the scamulous package single-handedly simply by those back-taxes getting paid.

Next on the block...the United States. Bidding starts at $819 Billion.

I just read a synopsis on the “Stimulus Package” that passed through the House of Reprehensivness, I mean, the House of Representatives this evening. Interesting content for an emergency bill meant to stimulate the economy. Here’s a rundown of a few of the earmarks in this magnum opus of legislative chicanery:

$25 million for ATV trails
$400 million for the National Endowment for the Arts
$400 million for global warming research
$335 million for the Centers for Disease Control to combat sexually-transmitted diseases
$650 million for coupons to subsidize TV viewers for digital television conversion

These are just a few of the items that President Obama claims will maintain or create American jobs during the current economic downturn. Okay, someone has to build the ATV trails, I can digress on that one; however, what does $400 million for the arts do to create jobs? In fact, I question the wisdom of spending taxpayer money to fund art in the first place. If an artist wishes to make his/her work available to the masses, then find a financier who feels your work is worthy and have them fund it. Given the history of NEA funding, this is money well wasted.
Global warming research? I thought this was a given that climate change is happening, indeed irreversible, as reported on January 27th. Why then should we spend more money researching it? You can bet that this money won’t go into researching the absurdity of the “man-made” global warming claims, so what’s to research? We already know what the effect of climate change will be on our economy, national security, energy consumption, consumer spending and so-on, so why spend more money for research? How about spending money to do something about it?
Combating STD’s isn’t going to create or maintain jobs, unless you work for the condom industry. Why spend $335 million dollars because people don’t like hearing the 100% guaranteed way to avoid STD’s: abstinence until marriage and faithfulness to your spouse? Why is it that smoking related illnesses and death can only be stopped if we get people to quit smoking, but the way to stop illnesses and death due to STD’s is to find a way to accommodate those who don’t want to stop their risky behavior? Rubbish.
$650 million to subsidize converter boxes may temporarily hold the line in retail stores, but is this really necessary? I’m not going to get into the debate about how people who can’t afford the boxes unfairly having their TV’s reduced to static-boxes after the changeover, I just want to know what this has to do with stimulating the economy? Nothing.

This is change? No, this is payoffs to special interest groups financed by our tax dollars. I’m not totally against government intervention in the economy when it is needed, such as a time like this, but I am outraged at the incredible amount of pork and waste we are going to see come out of this package. President Obama was elected on the promise of change, of a new way of doing business in D.C.; so far all I have seen is a continuation of the status quo. The only difference is that now it is the Democrats spending like drunken sailors instead of Republicans.

We, the people, also need to take a hard look at where this money is going to come from. The simple fact is there are only three ways for the government to get this money: print it, tax it or borrow it. If they print it, inflation is the piper’s price. In the short term, it will be borrowed, from whom? China, as if we didn’t have enough debt tied up with them. When the Chinese call in their marker, it will have to be paid for through higher taxation, which will have a depressive effect on our economy. When this is all said and done, our government is committing us to yet more loans that we cannot afford, sound familiar? Sub-prime mortgage meltdown, anyone? The only problem is the next wave of foreclosure will be of our national sovereignty. How’s that for change?
